Intergenerational volunteers receive recognition

Intergenerational volunteersPictured are some of our Intergenerational volunteers who attended accredited training in May 2016. They were nominated for The County Durham Chairman’s Medal and are pictured with their certificates of recognition. Some of them had attended the Area Action Partnership meeting in May to collect the certificates.

Two groups were nominated- our volunteers who support ‘Respect between generations’ sessions we deliver in schools throughout County Durham. The other volunteers are our ‘Make do and Mend’ group exploring activities from World War Two with children from Deaf Hill Primary school. They have been teaching them to knit, bake and now grow with help from Mary Robinson from Trimdon Community garden. This culminated in a ‘Street Party’ in March that older people were invited to attend, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
