Promoting respect between generations

older volunteer working with children on a Respect sessionOn 20 October 2015 the Intergenerational Programme Coordinator, Janet and six intergenerational volunteers visited Deaf Hill Primary School to deliver a ‘Respect Between Generations’ session with the Year 6 class.

This was a great session enjoyed by all, the young people were all very engaged in discussions and contributed valid and thoughtful comments. Some of the young people remarked at the end that they now realised that older people were just like them and shared many of the same interests.

One of our volunteers Bert who is the ‘World Champion spoon player’ gave an impromptu rendition of his skills to everyone’s obvious delight, to close the session.
